Competition is always a good thing. It forces us to do our best. Discovery Hospitality Corporation had it’s 2nd Culinary Cup last September 6 at Discovery Suites in partnership with Pristine Solutions, Don Revy and Engkanto.
All five properties under Discovery Hospitality: Club Paradise Palawan, Discovery Suites, Discovery Country Suites, Discovery Primea and Discovery Shores Boracay took part in the inter-property Food and Beverage Competition which showcased the skills of the competitors who represented their property. The competition was The judges for the competetion are the Head of Sales for Don Revy Aries Mayuga, celebrity chef Shiela Lopez, Dine.ph editor Alu Aran and Foodservice Philippines President Adolf Aran Jr.
The competition was divided in to 4 event Table Setting, Hot Selection, Bartending and Pastry which had a Vegan as its central theme. This was not just a simple competition, the contestants were given mystery ingredients such as Beyond Burgers, Beyond Sausages, Daiya Vegan Cheese Provolone Style and a Vegan Cheesecake which they had to incorporate in their dishes
The Table Setting Championship as well as the People’s Choice Award for Table Setting went to Discovery Shores Boracay represented by Ma. Aurora Abraham Estolloso where she took home both trophies with this blue and white themed table set-up accented by yellow and gold.
Martin Ben Protacio who represented Discovery Primea took the Bartending championship with this cocktail made from a almond milk and GlenAlmond Whisky while incorporating the mystery item Daiya vegan cheese.
Discovery Suites was represented by Chef Alvin Christian Trinidad and Chef Ronaldo Colis, serving the judges with their Vegan Dumplings and Fried Sausage Quinoa making them the Culinary Champion for Hot Selection.
A Vegan Salted Caramel Lava cake made by Chef Roberto Dacsil and Chef Ranie Espenida who represents Club Paradise Palawan took the trophy in the Pastry competition.
