About the Chef.

Born in Bogota, Colombia, Chef David started cooking almost as early as he started walking. From an early age, the kitchen proved his strongest vocation, and his professional path has been without detour.

Upon completing his basic culinary studies in 1990, Chef David became the youngest winner ever of his country's national culinary contest, the Nestlle "Toca de Oro," and represented Colombia at gastronomic competitions of continental level.

After a number of years as chef de partie in five star hotels and as Executive Chef of independent operations, Chef David travelled to New York to further expand his professional scope and attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America.

In Manhattan, he worked at some of the city's leading restaurants, such as Bouley, Le Bernardin and Lespinasse and cooked for the rich and famous in the Long Island summer resort town of East Hampton.

Settled in the Philippines in 1997, Chef David opened the prestigious Soleil Restaurant in Makati. He worked as Chef of Aqua Restaurant at the Enterprise Center and at the Soleil Cafe Moderne at Greenbelt 2.

He is now the Corporate Chef for the Discovery Suites (the premier 225-all suites serviced apartment hotel in Ortigas Center), Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay, and the Discovery Shores Boracay Island (opening in 2006).
Chef David spearheads the opening of Restaurant Verbena, an
80-seat restaurant at Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay.
